Lloyd’s Europe today announces that Hugh Governey has been appointed as Lloyd’s Country Manager and General Representative for Ireland, subject to regulatory approval. His appointment is effective from 1 April 2026.
In the role, Hugh will be responsible for representing Lloyd’s Europe in Ireland, supporting market participants, and further strengthening Lloyd’s role within the Irish risk and insurance ecosystem. He will report to Malik Abbassi-Antoine, Lloyd’s Europe Chief Market Development Officer and Regional Manager for Western Europe. Hugh succeeds Eamonn Egan, who sadly passed away while in post in 2025.
Hugh brings deep expertise through ten years within the Lloyd’s Market Development team, alongside strong local ties and an extensive network across the Irish insurance landscape.
